Schemes may be grouped if they are related to each other, for example within a tiered system like Bronze, Silver and Gold.
This feature allows you to quickly and easily upgrade or downgrade holders of a certificate within a group, for example promoting a Bronze holder to a Silver holder. We refer to this up or downgrading as 'switching'.
A certification scheme can only be grouped within one group, so if for example it is the Gold level in one group, it can't also be grouped elsewhere.
The easiest way to set up schemes that are to be grouped is to fully set up a first scheme, such as a Bronze level. Once you are happy with the various settings, description, custom fields, etc, use the Replicate Scheme to create the next version, changing the title, description, logo as appropriate for this tier. Then replicate again with further changes for any further tiers or levels to be within the grouping.
Once the schemes are created, you can then add them to a group via 'Scheme Grouping' on the menu within the settings area of any of the applicable certification schemes.
Available schemes for grouping with the scheme you are setting are provided in a list. Note that schemes should only be grouped if they have the same expiry settings (either they all expire or none expire), and so only relevant schemes are listed.
Schemes in a group should ideally have a very similar structure; for example custom field names, etc, as information from one certificate will be copied across to another when it is switched.
The default settings for the superseding certificate can also be set.
If you are the issuer with the correct permissions, you will see a button on the certificate detail page to 'upgrade certificate'.
